District of West Kelowna and Westbank First Nation
The Westside is comprised of two separate communities and governments. The District of West Kelowna and Westbank First Nation are home to a very diverse landscape, with agriculture, forest, businesses and residential properties nestled between Mountains and the Okanagan lake. Clean air, water, green space and a good climate make West Kelowna and Westbank First Nation desirable places to live and work. West Kelowna incorporated into its own District Municipality in December 2007, after being part of the Central Okanagan Regional District. And Westbank First Nation, a self-governing First Nation since 2005, operates under its own government and jurisdiction. Westbank First Nation’s syilx culture is incorporated into local signage and architecture.
